Sydney Water NFRP Latest Works

Abergeldie’s team have so far been awarded eight packages of work for upgrade and refurbishment projects at more than 17 locations under Sydney Water Corporation’s five year, $300 million Network Facilities Renewal Program (NFRP) across the Sydney basin.  The packages vary in scale but all are complex and demand detailed planning and management to be delivered safely and within budget.

Works completed since the beginning of the year include sedimentation tank refurbishments at North Head, Malabar and Bondi. Two more sedimentation tanks are now waiting for Abergeldie’s attention at Warriewood and another at Malabar.

At the same time, detailed design is nearing completion for pump station upgrades at Avalon, Dee Why and Putney, and work is about to start on replacing 21 bunds around chemical dosing facilities at  six different Wastewater Treatment Plants.

All of these projects are being carried out under brownfield conditions while existing treatment plants and systems continue to operate. In many cases, that will require bypass arrangements. Others present logistical and access challenges to allow the existing systems to keep working while the new systems are being installed.  The team is making a point of involving as many of Sydney Water’s operations and maintenance people as possible in the planning phase, to make sure that the right solutions are developed for safety and efficiency, with minimum disruption to existing services.

We are proud to be delivering high quality projects under the NFRP scheme and look forward to many more NFRP projects to build on our positive and longstanding working relationship with Sydney Water Corporation.

Complex infrastructure projects are what Abergeldie is all about, and the Sydney Water projects fit the bill perfectly. Our involvement in Sydney Water’s NFRP projects will make the next few years an exciting time for Abergeldie.
