Abergeldie is meeting and exceeding expectations for environmental and safety controls at the plant. The local creek is subject to strict environmental controls. The works also involve working at heights and in confined spaces and working with chemicals. No environmental incidents have been recorded and zero LTIs have occurred since contract award in March 2021, a testament to our safe working methods and proactive risk management.
Abergeldie worked with the client to refine the process design to achieve greater efficiencies for the WWTP, which included replacing the original client design of a oxidation ditch, with a bioreactor batch.
Construction has been impacted by extended wet weather periods and indirect impacts from Covid restrictions on key supply chains. Abergeldie has worked closely with Hunter Water to re-sequence works where possible to keep the program moving forward, while also ensuring strict adherence to approvals processes. Construction where possible was delivered in parallel with the later stages of the design process. Commissioning activities have been re-sequenced to get traction on areas that finish early.
