Walk for Water

This year, WaterAid Australia asks the question, how far would you walk for water? In some of the world’s poorest countries it’s normal for people to spend hours walking just to collect water with over 263 million people having to spend over 30 minutes walking just to collect water that is safe to drink. As such WaterAid has invited all Australians to walk alongside those who walk those long distances to collect water.

An Abergeldie team, consisting of Madison HopeDaniel McphersonDaniel RemailiCarrie Wu Darren SoyKit Chong and Ishfar Biswas, has chosen to participate. Over the past couple of days from the 18 – 22 of October, each member has walked, run or cycled for one hour just like many of those less fortunate than us.

Abergeldie is matching every dollar donated to our page and we encourage those who can to donate and show their support to those who took part under the Abergeldie name. Although the walking is complete, donations will stay open for a while longer so spread the word by sharing our fundraising page with your friends, family and colleagues.

Through the support from the community, WaterAid can continue its mission to reach everyone, everywhere with clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene within a generation. With just $50, WaterAid can run a hand washing campaign against COVID-19 and with $140 it could provide hygiene education to frontline healthcare workers.

We thank all those who participated, showed support or spread the word. Together we can continue to make a difference and the more people that know about WaterAid, the more we can achieve together.
